Dependency faced in Indian Classical music
My specialization is in Music and I'm pretty satisfied and proud to be in this field.Since my childhood i had a great interest in all genres of music. I am unable to memorize my childhood other than listening to Lata Ji's songs very desperately and grasped them very easily....even the minute and difficult variations she sang. I dont know to what extent I was correct regarding the notes. well I really enjoy music and I thank God that he gave this field to me and gave me power to understand tit-bits of even Indian Classical Music. These present hours, when everyone is rushing for MBA, Engineering, etc. and there is a jostling crowd in those fields, I ve an entirely different and peculiar one.Refreshing, heeling, rejoicing, heavenly.... I mean nothing like experiencing music.
But at the same time,I experience lot of problems specially in classical. For a solid & proper taleem, you need an appropriate Guru and its essential. You just cant avoid this dependency.Coz music is all about 'Perfect training of perfect aesthetically sound note'.One of the most important factors in music are correct voice throw, voice control, voice modulation, and then knowing the exact location of seven swaras. This is minimum basic training. And even for these basics, we are suppose to have a mentor or Guru who can continuously not only guide us in this direction, but also prevent us from doing wrong riyaz (practice). Its absolutely not possible to reach any higher standards of performances without having a mentor throughout. You cant manage on your own level. We are full of perseverance, dedication, commitment, determination and all other elements which are responsible for success....all these elements are fake without a Guru to help us analise and perceive accurateness of swaras. This is pretty great problem .This is the reason gharanedaar artistes come up as a performer and not the normal students.A son of a musician is always aspired and expected to become a musician coz he had been receiving regular & perfect taleem from his Father and that too from childhood, and grasping fine material (bandishes, gayaki) throughout. So its but obvious that he'll come as a promising musician. but the ordinary youths are devoid of it even if they need it keenly. This is a real problem in the field of classical music as you have to be dependent on someone's guidance in the time when masses are trying to be much more independent and technological.
